What must people don’t realize is that getting a piercing is also a health issue. Look around the studio and see if the place is clean and in order. A lot of dust and junk lying around could lead to infections. It probably means that the sterilization practices are also up to par. None the less, ask about the sterilization practices. If they look at you like you are dumb or it seems like they don’t want to talk about it much, then you should be concerned for your safety. Keep in mind that underground piercers generally do not have access to proper sterilization equipment. You are putting your self at risk for infections such as E-coli, Salmonella, hepatitis, and various other sometimes life threatening diseases. If you are getting it professionally it is most likely safe, but always make sure.
